ON OUR WAY TO MEET HIS NEW BOSS, MY HUSBAND ASKS IF I'M NERVOUS.

I REPLY, "I WOKE UP BLIND ONE MORNING. NERVOUS GOES AWAY AFTER THAT."

My Champion's Heart

Two years ago today, my husband, 46 at the time, was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. The cause? A virus. The effect? Our already shaken world was rocked once again, violently. Only eleven months before, I had lost my vision. My mom had passed away fifteen months prior.

That was then.

This is now.

He is doing great! His heart returned to normal size, and we now have a cardiologist on our ever-growing list of personal specialist physicians. He goes to cardiac rehab several times each week, where he has met an amazing group of cardiac survivors.

Thanksgiving is seven weeks away, but today is a day of extreme gratitude for me.

And, yes, this is what test results showed his heart to look like. The doctors were surprised. I was not.
