ON OUR WAY TO MEET HIS NEW BOSS, MY HUSBAND ASKS IF I'M NERVOUS.

I REPLY, "I WOKE UP BLIND ONE MORNING. NERVOUS GOES AWAY AFTER THAT."

Let's Put The "Write" Back In Writing

At my new job we can go on personal email and other websites at lunch or when we need a break, but I am hesitant to view or sign on to this blog from work. However, I do like to write my blog entries when they come to me so I've found myself writing my blog on pen and paper and then typing when I get home. Can you imagine? Pen and paper!!!

It feels primitive and yet it also feels right. It feels like I'm a real writer, perhaps writing the great American novel or an important historical document, filled with inspiration and passion that cannot be delayed.

If it weren't for the ear buds in my ears and the iTouch on the desk next to me, I'd think I was living in BC. Yes, that's right, the time Before Computers.

Jeans: Worth The Fear

I'm in my 40's and I basically hid at my desk into the afternoon because I wore jeans to the office today after shoveling my way to my car and was afraid of being told about it by my new manager. This lasted until my body functions overrode my fear when my stomach started rumbling with hunger pains and I also had to use the restroom.

I would have rather been with those kids I saw on my way to work, playing in the snow, but I guess I was my own inner child in my own way today.

It's Not The One Or Two Snowflakes That'll Get You

While I was out of work, I did not miss the eternal debate of whether or not to make the drive into the office when it snows. I need this job and want to keep it, but no one has the right to tell me whether it's safe or not for me to make the commute to work.

I'll be reading this blog in the morning to reinforce this fact as I try to decide what to do.

I Want To Be A Real Meeting Planner

Today at work I found myself reviewing hotel contracts, off-site dinner location possibilities and ground transportation quotes.

Today, for the first time in years, I felt like and was a real Meeting Planner.

Who Goes To Dunkin' Donuts And Doesn't Get Coffee?

Apparently my husband.

I am still trying to get better from this blasted bronchitis that 2011 brought with it. We slept in this morning and then my husband ran out for a few things and to get a special treat of donuts from Dunkin' Donuts. If you are a coffee lover, you know that Dunkin' Donuts has the BEST coffee and it's such a treat to get a cup.

Alas, there was no Nectar-of-the-Gods-in-a-Styrofoam-Cup waiting for me when I came downstairs.

I should have never bought him that Keurig for Christmas.

Goggles Pizano

I couldn’t find my keys this morning as I was trying to leave the house. This never happens to me but it’s only to be expected it should start happening now that I have a new job that expects me to arrive -- and rightly so -- at a certain time.

I did find them, OK, my husband found them, in his key/catchall basket instead of in my key/catchall basket. I did leave the house late but made up the time on the road. That same husband doesn’t call me “Goggles Pizano” for nothing.

While on the road, at a stop light I assure you, I got out my prescription sunglasses even though it was cloudy and gray and 7:45 a.m. While transferring my regular prescription glasses to the eyeglass case, I dropped them and they landed on the floor mat beneath my feet. Bad words were said.

Normally I am praying for all green lights, especially since I was running late, but today I was looking for red so I could pick them up. I finally got my red but all I managed to do was push the glasses further away before the light turned green. This happened one more time before I stopped for coffee at McDonald’s – because no matter how late I am I will be stopping for coffee – and finally was able to get them off the floor.

It was then I noticed they had been laying lens-down on the mat, being scraped all around the nubbly plastic mat mixed with road salt from our already lovely Pennsylvania winter.

2011 continues to disappoint and we’re still in Week 1 . . .

For those of you unfamiliar with the legendary Goggles Pizano, in an episode of the Flintstones Fred drives Barney’s car in the Indianrockolis 500 and Fred’s driving name is Goggles Pizano.

While Googling the correct spelling of “Pizano”, I discovered an Urban Dictionary definition. I will NOT be sharing that with you here but I assure you I had no prior knowledge of its latest definition and I also assure you I am sorry I have that knowledge now.

Chances are if you don’t know who the Flintstones are, you already know the Urban Dictionary definition. And those of you who know Fred & Co. should leave it at that. I beg you. Don't bare the burden I now carry.
